Installing 3cx in a windows or linux. environment is very simple. in this short video i will show you how. to install 3cx on a linux machine. i'm nicholas and this is 3cx. as we will be installing 3cx in a. virtualized environment we will need to. create the machine before deploying 3cx. to it. this machine will need to be created. based on the 36 hardware specifications. machine will need to have a private ip. address or an ipv6 address. finally we will need to have a 36. license you don't already have a 36. license during the installation wizard. you can click on the link and fill in. the form to get a free license key. so let's start our installation. we will download 36 from the customer. portal. as soon as we have downloaded the iso we. will go and create a virtual machine to. install this on. when installing 3cx in a virtualized.

Environment we recommend using one of. the 3cx supported hypervisor platforms. however for the purposes of this demo i. will use the vmware workstation just as. a demo. we don't recommend using this in a. production environment. we will select the iso file. we can give it any name we want. this is where it will install. we will define the resources available. to the machine as well. the disk drive. and we can customize the hardware to. suit our needs. we can change the memory settings for. example. or the network adapter. i will have a bridge so it is connected. directly onto my physical network. as soon as we click on finish we can. start the installation. we will give our machine a hostname. you can put your domain in if you don't. have a domain you can just continue. select language. the region. and the keyboard map.

We will define a root password for the. operating system. and we will verify it. i will select guided use entire disk as. the partitioning method so i can use the. entire disk that i have assigned. select the disk. all files in one partition i'm just. going for the easy method now. finish partitioning. write the changes yes. and now we start the installation of the. operating system. it has now started the installation of. 3cx. we will need to agree to the terms of. the license agreement in order to. continue. and finally we come to the beginning of. the configuration wizard. from this point forward the experience. for the user and you as an admin will be. exactly the same both in linux and. windows. let's press one. to start the configuration in the web. browser. if it was a windows installation the. browser would automatically open.

In the web config. however with linux we will need to. basically. put in the url that is shown on the. screen. on the first page it will ask us for our. license key. next we put in the username and password. that we want all the admin console of. 3cx. it detects our public ip address if you. have a different public ip address. assigned to 3cx you will need to add it. into the field below. is the ip address that you have defined. static or dynamic if you are in doubt. set it to dynamic and you can change it. to static later on. it will now ask us for our fqdn. enter a hostname and select one of the. many 3cx domains available. select the ports that you want to use. for 3cx you can choose any ports that. are available on your network. select the default network adapter. you can just use the local ip address of. the server.

And now it will go and generate the free. 3cx ssl certificates. and it will go and apply the 3cx fqdn. requested to the license key. continuing on with the configuration we. will select the extension digit length. please make sure you select this very. carefully as this cannot be changed. later on. define an admin email address that the. pbx will notify if anything is wrong. so let the country the pbx will be. located in as well as the time zone. we will then create the first extension. on 3cx. next we select the countries that 36. will be allowed to make international. calls to by default the country that you. have selected is enabled we can see that. cyprus is enabled by default because we. have selected it as the installation. country. and i can go and select the united. states as well. we will then select the prompt set.
